Cloudland

Sometimes there’s such a contrast between the internal struggles we have and the outside face we present to others. And that can make silence difficult. The bible tells us that we will find peace in God. A peace that transcends our understanding, all understanding. Through silence, prayer, and meditation I’ve found my inner turmoil calms. I pray we can all find that.

The silence in my mind sometimes scares me more than the whispering voices I wish to quell.
Voices that echo that we are nothing.
Simply dust and water tangled in a chaotic web.
Yet, those moments when the voices fall silent
I panic.
Are we nothing?
The tune of the cloudless land has yet to be sung.
It’s the waves of grace that flow like a river.
Only present where the air is thinner than paper.
White mountains rise to new heights
Giving false hopes that we too are giants.
The song falters as false hopes do.
Yet, I thank our Creator for making us so fragile in the static.
That when the song ends we have Him.
So strong in the silent moments of prayer.
There lies peace and grace.
The calm waters where not a pin would be dropped.
Then when we look at ourselves, we see more than nothing.
