Beneath the Weeping Stars

This poem is for those who know someone struggling with depression or hard times in general. We all need one another and the Bible reminds us that no matter what is happening in our lives, the Lord holds us, tears and all.

I fell in love with you, my star,
And you shined for me.
A singular light on a plane of everlasting night.
At times your light flickered,
As though you were unsure or forgot how to shine.

I wept for you when the weight of gravity was too much.
But the darkness couldn’t cover the sadness you felt sometimes,
Though it tried, I reminded you of the one who holds you
Whose voice called you into being and made you bright.

I stared up into the heavens
Our tears blurred the night sky
And the rain washed away the pain of our brokenness.

The pressure of gravity let up finally
With the words “come to me”.
The weight of them tips the balance to rest.

Then you weren’t alone, my star.
Light shone from others far away.
A multitude of thanks in a sea of forgiveness.
