In the depths of my ineptitude

This month, I usually meditate on the book of Psalms. December is always filled with mixed emotions. I find that the comforting rhythm of the Psalms soothes my restless emotions. They are songs that can remind us that God is with us. He is for us. Even when we feel the world is against us. I hope this month, as we reflect on the power of music, you can find some time to sit with a Psalm or two.

I’ll sing because some songs don’t need a loud voice to carry.
I’ll dance because some moves don’t need a perfect rhythm.
In the depths of my ineptitude, I fell further.
Plummeting headlong into conflict.
The kind I should have seen coming.
Tension can be deafening that way.
But at least, I’ll have a silent song to keep me climbing
Back to where peace is my neighbor.
But at least, I’ll have a tangled dance to keep me moving
To push away the darkness that you tried to cover me with.
And my tired eyes will see and my deaf ears will hear
That you were my kryptonite
In a world where superman never existed.
The music of my inhale as I pray to continue singing,
The drumming of my fingers as I search for the beat of life.
My fall was nothing compared to the music of your salvation.
Even in the silence,
I am eternally yours.
