Tomorrow
And yesterday.
Once you see through the worldly facade,
Infinite wisdom won’t cure willful blindness.
You are being loved.
You are made of God’s love.
On those days you cannot see it.
On these days the world breaks apart for you.
On the days you self-destruct.
Forget the hateful murmurs that knit the tapestry of lies.
The ones that say you are not enough.
You can build a prison on that sinking sand.
One that crumbles when the water rises.
There’s no fortress strong enough to
Hide away from God’s truth.
You are being loved.
You are made of God’s love.
On those days you cannot feel it.
On these days when your life looks a mess.
On the days you hate yourself.
The dictionary definitions of love miss the depth,
The wonder of God’s love.
That itself, breathing is an intimate act between ourselves
And our Creator.
Marriage and relationships are but a moon
Reflecting a portion of God’s sun.
You are being loved.
You are made of God’s love.
On those days when it feels lonely.
On these days when everyone pushes you away.
On the days you forget who you are.
We are children of God
Saved by Jesus
Who loved us.
Who is loving us.
Who is love.
So, you, my dear, are simply loved.
Forever.

Today is the day our world celebrates love. Our culture emphasizes the superficial. The flowers, the chocolates, the dinner. These are not sinful things. The problem arises when we emphasize these things more than the love that is behind them. That is where we will always go wrong. As followers of Christ, we know that there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another. Jesus did that for us. This poem is a simple reminder. No matter where you are on this day, and every day, you are loved.
