The artifacts of our loneliness are many. Especially in our present age where loneliness is on every corner. Ironically we have more people than we have ever had in our history. Yet as we all know, no number of people can abate those feelings of loneliness. These feelings persist when they come. It’s human to forget we have a God that loves us and is with us all the time. We have never lived a moment unloved by God. He has always thought of us. If God were to stop doing so, we would cease to exist entirely. It is difficult to grasp that concept on a good day. It becomes nearly impossible when we are isolated. We feel distant from all the things we thought tied us down and gave us stability. That is why Jesus tells us to trust in God. He is eternal and never forsakes us. Yet we still seem opposed to clinging to his vine. We want to put our trust and minds on money, friends, family, and stability. And while there is nothing wrong with devoting time to make those things prosper and bear Godly fruit, we have to remember that they are fleeting and ultimately will fail us at some point in our lives. That is the epicenter of this loneliness epidemic. As followers of Christ, we can put our trust in the God of the universe. We are never alone because He will always be with us.
