When we are lost or have been deceived, everything can seem hopeless. What can we possibly do, when we couldn’t even prevent it from happening? But in that place, I believe that we are given a front row seat to God’s grace. We recognize his work, as we see him do what we are unable to. And we know that he loves us, as he guides us back to the truth. As you read this poem, I pray that you remember that God’s grace is sufficient for you in every circumstance. Even when you are lost.
Lies drip from beautiful words like honey,
In the midst of the congregation.
Their sweetness captivate the unsteady hearts within,
As they entangle and wrap themselves around the truth,
Constricting, twisting,and morphing its appearance,
So even that which is good,
Looks like madness.
But God’s grace is stronger than lies.
Falsehoods bend and it straightens,
Deceptions wound and it binds up,
And as distortion creeps in,
As a snake slithering upon its prey,
The truth shines into the hearts of the unsteady,
Untangling and dismantling the deceit wrapped around it.
Because God loves the congregation,
And will allow no harm to befall those who trust in him.
Safety is found within God’s embrace,
And his grace calls even the most exquisite lies to repentance.
