This week Antoinette and I are tackling a distinct form of poetry: the Haiku. Traditional Haiku are nature focused, do not rhyme, and have a strict syllable count (5-7-5). It is surprisingly challenging to write with such strict rules, but for this week, we have decided to embrace it. As we finish our month of talking about comparison, remember that God does not compare us to each other. He does not treat some above the rest. That is human nature, but not God’s. He loved all of us so much that He died so we could have life. The miracle of that hits me so hard sometimes, when I look past the comparisons and injustice.
Strange Thoughts
Strangers hold my gaze.
As I fall short of judgment.
Desperate for God.

Mending
Sadness clouds my thoughts
Their life my foremost passion
May Christ mend my heart
