Trust is a hard one for me. If there’s ever been one thing in my faith and life journey that feels like an impenetrable mountain, it’s trust. When I was young, my father walked out of my life. For a long time, if I saw a girl with their father, it would break something in me. A remnant of a trust broken that shouldn’t have been. Since the, I’ve struggled with letting anyone in. In believing others. My journey with God is no different. There’s a recoil reflex in me when I hear the words of Proverbs 3. Ironically one of my favorite proverbs. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…He will make your paths straight.” This month, I plan to journey more into what trusting God means. I hope you’ll join me.
Like dust, we just want to settle.
Too long have we drifted in the endless, hot streams of summer air.
Where meaning is but a dream and the stuff of life is short lived.
Like birds, we just want to fly.
To find a place we can thrive and build a nest from the ground up.
Flying with direction.
Oh but to take that step or flap that wing. That’s the hardest part.
These opposing forces begging for space in our heart.
Until one wins.
Maybe I just want to wait.
Have clarity wrap its arms around me.
And God’s timing to decide when.
Like dust, we’ll settle.
Like birds, we’ll fly.
Trust in their proper time.
