Time

I think we can often feel as if time is our enemy. There does not seem to be enough of it, and it only seems to care about the future. Leaving us behind along with the past. It is hard to trust in God when our lives are constantly changing. When we cannot be sure that everything will be ok. However, I think that time itself is not simply moving toward the future, but to a place of rest. To eternity with the Creator, and a place we will also find rest. As you read, I hope that you are encouraged to trust in God. Knowing that he holds together even time itself.

Like an hourglass broken and tipped on its side,
Time slips away,
As sand pouring through fractured glass,
As a prisoner escaping its prison.
A foreigner to a people of hesitation,
It pushes forward,
Leaving the souls who wish to contain it behind,
And heads toward its home.
Neither an enemy nor a friend,
Containing neither compassion nor patience,
Time draws close to the future,
And seeks rest in the hands of the Creator.
Where there is no hesitation,
And it is no longer alien,
Becoming, to those who trust in God,
What it was never before,
A friend.
