Streams of Comfort

When I was thinking about Proverbs 1 and what wisdom means in a biblical context, I started praying to God to show me how to search for wisdom. We can just ask for it outright, but sometimes even that is difficult to do when you believe you have it all figured out. The authenticity of coming to God and asking for wisdom because you know, you believe that He knows better. And He wants better for us. I came to that realization, slowly. I need to listen to God’s guidance and trust that He knows what’s best. That coming to Him, that’s the beginning of wisdom.

Slowly slowly slowly
My footsteps approach the door.
My hand hovers over the
doorknob
Questions of truth arise
False names that I’ve been called.
But I still respond.
Oh daughter of God
you search
for me.
The fear of the mirror seems greater
than the one who created it.
The lies that you’ve been told seem more honest
than the ones that set you free.
Oh daughter of God
I am here.
Whispering wise words
If you’ll listen
Slowly slowly slowly.
